Posted on 2022-08-14 22:25, in how the hell do people even compose music? (edited 2022-08-14 22:27) Link | ID: 452
I did Music for two years as a GCSE, and am not sure how I managed to get an ok grade.
Been a clarinetist for as long as I remember, but damn I could not compose anything even when being taught about it.
…I'm a big "you just need to learn/practice" person, but with writing music… I'd be willing to believe you need some innate talent.

just be copying someone elses style
Every form of art is just copying, they just call it inspiration. Genres exist for very good reason.

yeye that's the CSS I meant that we should have the option to toggle.
Hadn't thought of it being an issue here as images are shown at the true size in the theme I'm using… maybe I should add it incase other themes don't

Just looked at the MDN page and seems the option for using a pixel art scaling algo's been removed :(

21% wasted space!
I like a tad rounding too, but often new sites go a little overboard.
For profile images the option should be there for different styles, like how Twitter decided to give a hexagon option… if you put your image in an… NFT…
Whatever happened to custom profile CSS

Another annoying thing is upscaling images, anything intentionally pixelated gets blurred.
IMO the best solution would be giving scaling methods in image metadata, but that's not a thing so sites should give an option maybe?

Ok had to look up what the hell creative5 means, it's Dreiton from Volume Beta.

If you haven't before, listen to the albums in full sometime, Alpha & Beta (or buy them on Bandcamp for £5).

Not sure what my favorite is… Minecraft music ranges from wonderful to good, I prefer volume Alpha though.
I wish C418 made more stuff like it

Posted on 2022-07-23 22:32, in Username tales? (edited 2022-07-23 22:34) Link | ID: 344
My present username is usually 'GoodClover', came from my Build-A-Bear teddy, who is green and has a clover on 'im. (also have a tiny one called Little Ted, I was very original).
It was my username because of BearVille, later Minecraft and then just got used everywhere.
(hmm, Wikipedia mentions BearVille just once. I mean the original, not the crap mobile app that ""succeded"" it. was like Club Penguin etc, but I never played those)

It's attached to loads of junk from when I was younger and an idiot online, and generally it's a not a particularly intereting/unique name, am trying to think of a new one.
'olive' is waaay to simple for me to ever hope claiming it on non-small places, and searching for it would be a nightmare. Usually register GoodClover and nick to olive, if they haven't made the genious decision to unify them.

Anyways, I'm curious as to how others ended up with/thought of their present usernames and previous ones…

One to point it out, another to point it out again and be told it's already known. One to buy the bulb, 3 months of delay, the fitting's changed so a new bulb is bought, and finally screwed in! …only for it to then be unscrewed prior to the workplace re-opening. People are used to the dark, and indoor lighting is a bit too radical…

Oh! Thanks for reminding me of FlightGear, was meaning to try it a while ago.

I'd been playing Cave Story (DSi) in my spare time at school, until I made the stupid mistake of saving with only 1 HP, right above an area full of things hurtling projectiles at me ;_; .

I've got the next chapter of Nina Aquila: Legal Eagle to play sometime…
…and the hundreds of things from Itch.IO mega-bundles to sift through.
I don't play games too often, past me would be wondering what I do in my time and honestly I don't know \('.')/

magic runes. I have this saved in a shell script.
Converts videos to a very specific weird format for playing on the DSi.
Don't ask me how - magical black box.
ffmpeg -i "$1" -f mp4 -vf \
"fps=24000/1001, colorspace=space=ycgco:primaries=bt709:trc=bt709:range=pc:iprimaries=bt709:iall=bt709, scale=256:144" \
-dst_range 1 -color_range 2 -vcodec mpeg4 -profile:v 0 -level 8 -q:v 2 -maxrate 500k -acodec aac -ar 32k -b:a 64000 \
-ac 1 -slices 1 -g 50 "$2"

(though it was on one line before I wrapped it for here :P )

I was not aware Aurora Store could do that!

Kiloblock's version is 2000000, tried a bunch and couldn't get anything else to work.

I'm very happy with my pre-gems pre-garage (though it has "Seasons") copy of Hill Climb I now have! (125)
"My" Hill Climb, the one I spent hours playing on my dad's phone.
Distinctly remember using the motorcross on the alien course whilst waiting in a Chinese takeaway :)

Exploration! I'd forgotten about this!
Spent quite a bit of time building underwater houses :)
Honestly can't remember if this was before or after I got Minecraft Java, never got Pocket.

Wonder if there's a non-demo version somewhere… unfortunately I updated it on our old tablet.
If only the Google Store kept old versions.
