Metal ROllers you say? heh...

The vending machine decides to be boring for once, and dispenses just a single water bottle.

As I said in the first post, I don't think the game will be an exact port of Infiniminer (sorry if that's what you've been looking for :( ) but rather a "fresh take" on a game concept that hasn't been dusted off for over a decade now
Well that's fine, just making a clone tends to become a bit boring having to recreate it and make it all as faithful as possible, meanwhile taking inspiration becomes more fun because you can take your own creativity and run with it in your own style. :P

Originally I had hosted the rough draft on google drive, but I don't know if anybody actually clicked the link. I think it'll get more visibility if it were posted directly in the forum (besides, I think it'll help spur discussion a bit :D ). I'd llke to make sure you're okay with that, Roller, before I continue.
Well I clicked through the link (I think), can't remember how large the draft document was but if you want to put some of it here on the forums that's fine too.

Hey hey, glad you're finally back! Unfortunate that you lost the original game code though... :( but that's why things like Git is so useful. Code management and versioning that doubles as backups.

Why should you be active on it? I don't like the "short message" format at all.
Well I see it as being a more public and permanent platform for things I would normally send in Discord channels that gets forgotten quickly.

I guess Pleroma as a software seems to be lighter than the Mastodon software but... I don't run my own instance, so that's kinda moot. ¯\_(._.)_/¯

Mastodon is a federated alternative to Twitter. It's not controlled by any corporate entity, you aren't the product when using the service, and anyone can start their own instance and federate with the rest of the network.

I'm over at the Fosstodon instance, @ROllerozxa@fosstodon.org. I've had it for a while but I really should be more active on it.

i posted this before I asked you on discord lol
Ah yeah I figured so.

also to be completely fair, this would also apply to anyone using a shared hosting provider btw, many of which don't allow shell_exec() commands for security reasons/don't provide some kind of terminal
Back when I would throw web toys onto Blyathosts I would keep a local dev environment where I have full access to various tools, and when I want to update the site I would ship that to production over FTP, excluding the production config which would have different SQL credentials and such.

But yeah, providing a prepared distribution package that can just be pushed directly onto a shared hosting environment would be the easiest for most people who just want a forum somewhere and do not feel the need to work on it locally. e.g. phpBB does this, their distribution packages contains phpBB with Composer libraries preinstalled, any other source preparations, and with development-related things such as unit tests or dev tools excluded from the archive.
